Where Will Lebron James Play After This Season?

Though it’s not etched in stone yet, the chances of LeBron James bringing his talents to another team come next season is very high. It makes sense for the King, given his contract’s player options.

The only way to entice LeBron to stay in Cleveland is if the team wins another championship this year, which is likewise very difficult given the increased level of play in the East and the dominance of Golden State and Houston in the West. That said, just exactly where will LeBron end up?

The most probable option is Los Angeles and the Lakers franchise. Magic Johnson has done a good job rebuilding the team, priming it to possible championship runs in the future with its young players led by Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball. There is also a very high probability that Paul George will join him in the Lakers. Moreover, L.A. is a big-market team, and LeBron might just decide to finish his career there.

Another talked-about choice is to join the rising Philadelphia 76ers team. Having LeBron play with the superstar tandem of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid will signal a new era of the Big Three, ensuring Philly’s dominance in the coming years and the complete realization of “The Process.”

Finally, and this is a recent development, King James may opt to get himself involved in the issue surrounding San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard. If James gets traded for Leonard, he will end his career playing for Gregg Popovich, considered by many to be the best coach in the whole league. It makes sense given that both Ginobili and Parker are also in the twilight of their careers and might want one last push for NBA glory.
